Project Description

Ryburn Valley High School

“To be one of only a handful of schools to achieve this accolade is extremely overwhelming and humbling. Reading the report for the first time brought tears to my eyes because it describes perfectly the truly great, ethically motivated school we have become and recognises the amazing work undertaken by staff and students who embody our vision every day.
Quite rightly the processes involved in the assessment for this award were extremely rigorous and were conducted by highly regarded, independent experts who clearly recognised our values-driven personal development programme. We are so proud that years of painstaking work and dedication from staff, students and community have been recognised in such an emphatic way at Ryburn.”

Mr David Lord, Headteacher

Gary Lewis, founding member and chair of the Association, thanked the school and its staff for their commitment to Character Education by explaining that;

“The Schools of Character Kitemark Plus is awarded to schools that can demonstrate that they take an explicit, planned and reflective approach to the cultivation of positive character qualities in their pupils in the interests of human flourishing. Ryburn Valley High School is a terrific example and it is with great pleasure that we welcome the school with a proven strength at developing the character of their young people.”
